Profile

Wa Wa Aung is a counsellor at Parkway Cancer Centre. She offers psychosocial and emotional support to cancer patients throughout their treatment journey. Drawing from the evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions, she tailors her counselling approach to meet each patient’s needs.

Wa Wa holds a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science from Republic Polytechnic in 2013 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business from Singapore University of Social Sciences in 2020. She graduated with a Master of Guidance and Counselling from James Cook University in 2023. She completed Levels 1 & 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy in 2023.

Wa Wa previously worked as a pharmacy technician and validated cleanroom technician for a decade, ensuring patients received the correct medications and sterile medicinal products through collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Before joining Parkway Cancer Centre, she was a counsellor at a university where she trained peer supporters, conducted mental wellness workshops, and provided individual counselling to a diverse student body. She is currently a Provisional Clinical Member of the Singapore Association for Counselling.

Wa Wa facilitates group conversations to support cancer patients and their caregivers. She also conducts training sessions and delivers talks on topics of psychosocial and emotional support related to cancer care, and contributes to publications focused on the care of cancer patients and their loved ones.
